Praying for Your Personal Finances

Series: Having Faith-Led Finances
Devotional: 2 of 4

Then Jesus lifted His eyes upward and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me”
John 11:41

Letting the Bible influence and direct your financial decisions sounds a lot easier said than done, but one of the first steps you can take today is to pray.

In today’s devotional, I want to give you a 5 step prayer framework that you can use as you pray for and over your finances.

Gratitude – Put aside what you are hoping for in the future, and pay attention to what is right in front of you. Begin your financial prayer by posturing your heart to be thankful.

God Use Me – So many of our prayers are for God to do something for us. Instead, ask God what you can do for him, and for his kingdom. Open your heart to his will, and he will direct your path. “God, what is it that you want me to do?”

Your People – Identify those who are in front of you that God may be asking you to bless.

Vision and Direction – You want to  pray for God’s direction, but also to be able to faithfully follow and take action even when it doesn’t seem very clear or even seems against the norm. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to lean on God’s understanding not our own, and when we do this, He will make our paths straight.

Growth & Increase – Pray Deuteronomy 1:11 over yourself and your family. “May the Lord, the God of your ancestors, increase you a thousand times and bless you as he has promised!”  This is not necessarily an increase in your bank account, though it can be, but I want you to pray for an increase in all things – trust, gratitude, action, generosity, financial growth, direction, skills, abilities, experiences, and relationships.
