How Many Bible Verses Are There About Money?
There are over 2,300 Bible verses about money. This includes topics like wealth, possessions, greed, money mindset, contentment, investing, and more. The Bible is absolutely loaded with advice and instructions on how to handle our finances, and ultimately how we can honor God with our money.
I will not be able to list out all 2,300+ Bible verses about money, however, this article will provide you with many of the most highly regarded verses and even some you may have never come across or noticed before.
Jesus himself talked about money a lot while he was here on earth. In fact, 11 out of his 39 parables talks about money. Oftentimes Jesus is simply using money as an illustration to a bigger point, however, I think we should still pay attention to the fact that he used money to get his lessons across rather than anything else.
What Does the Bible Say About Money?
Many of the Bible verses we read about money are somewhat vague and are open to interpretation when it comes to how to handle our personal finances. Here are a few general lessons that I believe are some of the most important takeaways from the scripture about finances.
Lessons to Learn About Money From the Bible:
- The wealth we possess has been given to us by God
- We are stewards of the resources he has provided us with, AKA money managers
- God cares about the way we handle our finances
- We should pursue excellence when it comes to money management
- At no point should we care more about our wealth over our relationship with Christ
- It is not sinful to have money
- God values giving more than he values earning
The Bible has a lot to say about money, and these are only SOME of the lessons to be learned about finances.

Matthew 19:21-26
Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?” Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.
