Is God’s Provision Enough for You?
Series: 4 Important Lessons on God’s Provision
Devotional: 4 of 4
The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
Psalm 34:10
God has given me so many ambitious and wonderful goals to chase after. Some of these goals include becoming a successful money coach and equipping every Christian with excellent money management skills rooted in the Gospel, and a thriving real estate agent. I desire to live in a bigger house with more space to invite more people in and use it as our own ministry. And I would also love to be a mother.
Each of these goals are things I have been working on for the past 2 years, and yet have not felt like I have made any progress towards. It is like jogging on a treadmill, seeing the goal plastered on the wall in front of me, but no matter how hard I try to run, I am not getting any closer.
“What does this have to do with God providing for me financially?” you may ask.
The question my husband posed to me one day was, “What if you accomplish none of these goals? Will God still be enough?”
Wow… That gave me a moment of pause….
We pray and pray and pray for so many things. Maybe you are asking God for financial provisions to be able to start a ministry, to become an overseas missionary, or to adopt a child. Maybe you have been praying for your money stresses to disappear, or money to magically appear.
Jesus prayed a similar prayer when he asked God to allow him not to have to suffer on the cross.
Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
Matthew 26:39
From our previous week’s devotionals, we learned that God promises to provide for our daily needs, but remember, he provides all that he knows we need and then leaves out the rest. God’s plan for our lives and for our finances is way better than we could ever imagine. But it may look wildly different from what we envision for ourselves.
Today, I would encourage you to pray that God’s daily bread would be enough to satisfy your soul. Rather than praying for God to provide more, pray that you may find contentment in whatever he has already given to you.
Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am.
