God Offers Life Tansforming Grace for You and Your Money
Series: 4 Gospel Foundations to Experiencing Financial Freedom
Devotional: 3 of 4
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.
And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what
you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also
provide a wayout so that you can endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
Last week we discovered that the root of our money problems begins with sin. When we ignore the problem of sin in our hearts, it takes over and leads us down a path of temptation and misuse of our money.
The good news is that there is hope! Hope for a future of true financial sanity and freedom!
Contrary to what most of the world’s financial experts would tell you is the first step to financial freedom, the answer is not a budget. In fact, as you may have already guessed, the answer doesn’t even begin with your money.
“You don’t just need a good plan for dealing with your financial mess, you need forgiving, rescuing, and transforming grace, just the kind of grace that you already have as a child of God.”
– Paul David Tripp
The process of redeeming your finances doesn’t start with a new or tighter budget, a financial education, or hiring a financial planner. Your journey to experiencing and living in financial freedom is through the transformative grace of Jesus Christ.
While still living in the world, sin will always come knocking at our door – this is guaranteed. In fact, as believers, we are practically promised that the enemy will try his very hardest to get us to disobey God.
Thankfully, as sons and daughters of the King of Kings, we have been filled with the Holy Spirit who gives us the power and the strength to say NO when the enemy tries to tempt us. In all situations we have a choice, and when we learn to choose Jesus’ way we will surely be guided into living a more abundant and fruitful money life.
