What is Field Agent?
Field Agent is an app that pays people like you and me to go “undercover” to complete tasks for their clients. They help their clients by providing the opportunity for them to see into their stores, whether physical or online, from their customers’ perspective.
Their clients can use the Field Agent app to pay locals to complete a variety of tasks like mystery shopping, taking surveys, checking local prices, testing products, writing reviews, taking pictures of a range of things like signs, thermostats, and even their own employees.
Field Agent works perfectly as a side-hustle! You can now earn extra cash while you are running your usual errands.
This is my Field Agent app review. I have only been using the app for about 3 months at this point and have made over $160. So I will also share my tips on how you too can successfully complete tasks and earn money through Field Agent!
How Does Field Agent Work?
As mentioned on their website, Field Agent crowdsources the smartphones of people across 7 countries to equip brands, retailers, and other businesses with fast, accurate retail information, shopper insights, and digital product demos.
Field Agent offers a less expensive alternative for these companies to accomplish these tasks in as little as just one day! In the past, these companies needed to hire their own employees to do this and that proved to be expensive and slow-moving.
Working As a Field Agent
What does a Field Agent Do?
As an agent, you will need to download the Field Agent app in order to complete the jobs. Download the app here!
When a company has a task they want to be completed, it gets posted as a job on the Field Agent app for a local agent to complete.
The job will show up only for those in the geographical location of the task. An agent can then go into the app, accept the job, and complete it.
Each completed job is then reviewed by a quality control team before the payout is given to ensure that the task was done correctly. If it was, then the money shows up right in your Field Agent app.
What Kind of Tasks Are There on the Field Agent App?
Most jobs will require you to travel to a store or business in order to complete it. They tend to ask you to take a few photos then answer some questions. That is what a typical job will consist of.
A Look Into The Different Field Agent Jobs
Here is a list of some of the tasks available on the Field Agent app and some examples of what the jobs may entail.
- Display Audits
- These consist of looking for seasonal displays or signage in a store or restaurant. I did quite a few display audits at the Ultas around me to ensure they had a specific Holiday Display out over Christmas.
- Product Availability
- This job requires going into a store and taking pictures of certain departments to see what kind of products they have available. I once had to take a picture of different perfumes offered at Walmart and had to verify if certain brands were available or not.
- Store Audits
- This can be a variety of things like making sure displays are in the correct spot, or ensuring the cleanliness of the store. I have taken pictures of battery displays to ensure that only a specific brand was placed on the display and that the display was organized.
- Mystery Shopping
- With these jobs, you will typically be interacting with employees. I have done jobs where I needed to talk with a cell provider about their services to find out if they mention certain deals to me without bringing them up myself.
- Customer Service Reviews
- These ones require you to talk with employees and evaluate their customer service. Walmart usually has a lot of customer service jobs available for agents.
- Online Shopping
- These jobs entail buying things online to either pick up or have delivered. You typically will not be reimbursed for these items so I recommend only completing these jobs when you plan to do shopping anyway.
- Buy & Try
- For these jobs, you will need to purchase the item in review and try it out. You get paid to review the product and typically get reimbursed for your purchase (if you complete the task correctly).
- Share Reviews
- I have completed jobs where I have shared reviews on my social media for certain products.
- Repeat Purchase Survey
- For the Buy & Try jobs I have completed, I have been paid to complete a follow-up survey to see if I went back and purchased the product again after trying it the first time.
- Surveys
- Field Agent also puts out surveys that you can respond to in order to be entered into a cash drawing.
- Real Estate Audits
- These jobs are typically to get photos of the exterior of a house for an insurance company to review.
- Scavenger Hunts
- For Scavenger Hunt jobs, you will need to find the exact product they are asking about and take photos of it and send them in.
- Price Checks
- The price check jobs that I have completed required me to take pictures of the barcodes on roughly 13 different produce items.
- Shopalongs
- Shopalongs jobs are supposed to be completed while you are doing your regular shopping. For example, I have seen Shopalongs for Sams Club where the agent needed to describe what they purchased and how they made that decision.
- On-Site Insight
- These jobs typically have you going to a place to take pictures and evaluate a store. It can be inside or outside of the location.
- Recycling Audits
- These jobs are usually pretty quick and don’t necessarily even require you to get out of your car. You need to go to certain retailers and find their recycling bales. These jobs are consistent with the recycling pick up in the area.
- Sample Testing
- Not sure what else to call this one, but I once completed a job where I needed to go to the grocery store, take a picture of a chocolate sample station then get a sample from the attendant there.
What If I Don’t Want to Do Certain Tasks?
There is absolutely no problem with not wanting to do certain tasks. Some people avoid tasks that require interacting with employees, and that is okay.
Each job will give a description of what is required in order to get paid. That way you can figure out if the job is something you are comfortable with.
The description will typically include how many pictures you will need to take as well as if there are any survey questions to answer along with it.
You will also be given the address of the exact store you will need to travel to in order to complete the job. So if it is too far out of the way, don’t take the job.
How Long Does it Take To Complete a Job?
This really depends on the job itself. Most jobs require you to go into the store to perform the task.
I would say that on average, most of the jobs I have completed take between 5 to 10 minutes. However, I have less time and I have spent more time on some jobs. You can typically tell from the job description how long it might take.
I once did a Mystery Shopper job at a cellular provider where I was required to talk with an associate there. The conversation itself took about 10 minutes, however, I had to wait for almost 20 in order to talk with them. This job paid $15 though so I wasn’t too upset about it.
Each job has an allotted amount of time in which you can complete it. Once you have accepted the job the timer starts counting down. Most jobs allow for up to 2 hours.
What Happens if I Accept a Job and Do Not Complete It?
When you do not complete a job that you have already accepted, your “Agent Score” will decrease.
I am not 100% sure what the Agent Score is for, but you can view your score in the Statistics tab in the Field Agent app.
According to the little note on the Statistics page, your score will decrease if a job is canceled after five minutes or expires. So it makes me think that if you were to accept a job and then cancel it before your allotted time frame and after the five minutes you should be okay.
Where Can I Do Field Agent Tasks?
Field Agent is currently available in 7 countries; The United States, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Ecuador, U.K, and Africa.
The tasks available for you will be highly dependant on your location. Bigger cities, and more heavily populated areas tend to have a lot of jobs, whereas rural or small towns have fewer jobs available.
I live in Denver, and there are usually plenty of jobs available. Though, when I drive to smaller towns in the mountains, there are significantly less.
You are not confined to your home town. I have done plenty of jobs while traveling. In fact, I have even completed a job at an airport!
Getting Paid By Field Agent
Does Field Agent Really Pay? Can I really Make Money From Field Agent?
Yes!
I have seen the negative reviews online about Field Agent not paying people, but I am here to tell you that Field Agent definitely does pay agents for successfully completed jobs!
My theory behind the bad reviews is that those agents may not have completed the jobs correctly.
So let that be a warning to you, make sure to read the directions carefully in order to successfully complete the job. And if you have done that then you should have no issue with getting paid.
How Much Can You Make From Field Agent?
This answer will be dependent on how many tasks you successfully complete, how often you are completing them, and how much each one is paying.
I have personally been completing jobs for about 6 months now, and I have made over $370.
However, if you add up my Cash Out History since I started in November, it will come to over $630. That means I have gotten about $260 of FREE STUFF!

I decided to write this Field Agent app review because I have had a lot of success with it!
I have been asking around to my friends and family who also use Field Agent and here is a quick range of some of their numbers:
Johnnie May from Agape Letters Blog – Louisiana Resident – $5 in two weeks
Abigail – North Carolina resident – $6 in 2 weeks
Wes – Colorado resident – $60 in 2 months
Maria from Handful of Thoughts, Canadian resident – $90 in 2 years
How Long Does it Take to Get Paid?
The time it takes to get paid really depends on the job you completed.
Once you have completed a job, it is submitted to a quality control team who reviews your work. If they determine that your work is good they approve it and the money shows up directly in your Field Agent app.
Some of the jobs take longer to get approved like the Buy & Try jobs typically take a couple of days since they need to read through your written feedback on the product. But jobs like the Recycling Audits usually get approved within a few hours because they need to approve a few photos.

How Do I Get Paid?
You can set up a direct deposit to your Field Agent account. You can transfer the money from your app to your bank account whenever you want to with a minimum of $5.
How Will I Know if My Job Was Accepted?
You can check the status of your recently completed jobs in the Statistics tab of your Field Agent app. There you will see a list of all the jobs you have accepted.
If there is a question mark next to your job it is still under review. When there is a checkmark next to it this means it was approved. If you see an X there that means that the job was declined.
What I LOVE About the Field Agent App Compared to Other Side-Hustle Apps.
- It pays you real cash that you can transfer to your bank account at any time. A lot of other reward apps give you points that you can then trade in for money or gift cards. I enjoy the real cash amount. The minimum you must reach in order to transfer to your bank account is only $5!
- Their referral program is better than most apps. Instead of getting a one time bonus for referring a new person to their program, you continue to earn based on their completed jobs too. You earn 10% on everything that that person you referred makes. 10% isn’t a whole lot, and it is dependant on that person successfully completing jobs, but the money you can earn from those referrals is unlimited!
- Their app is super user-friendly. I have tried working with a few other mystery shoppers, and the systems they have to share available jobs is not easy to figure out. Most of them don’t even have an app!
How To Be a Successful Field Agent
Here are some tips I wanted to share on how you too can be successful on Field Agent.
- Do not go out of your way to complete these jobs. If you start driving all around town to do these tasks, your time to money ratio will not be good. Not to mention all the gas you will be wasting to earn a few extra dollars. This app works well if you are already planning to go out and check the app to see if there are any jobs along the way!
- Try opening the Field Agent app when you are on vacation, especially in small towns. There are different types of jobs for different geographic locations. When I was in Florida, and Ohio over the holidays, they had very different job offerings than we get in Colorado! Also, if you visit a small town, Field Agent typically pays more for jobs in those locations because there are less people out there to complete them. I spent New Year’s Eve in Durango and completed 2 normal jobs that I have done in Denver before. One of them is typically $3 here in Denver and I earned $7 in Durango, while the other one typically pays $5 in Denver and I earned a whopping $13!!
- If you are serious about making money with Field Agent, make sure to check the app several times a day. Field Agent posts new jobs throughout the day, so what you see in the morning may be different in the afternoon. Remember, only one person can claim a job, so you want to try to be the first to it.
- The Buy & Try jobs are probably my favorite type of job. You get paid to review a product (usually food), you get reimbursed for that (free food!) and if you write a great review you have the opportunity to make an extra $2 just for sharing your review on Facebook! Oh, and an extra $0.25 for a follow-up review to see if you purchased the product again on your own! The highest valued item I was reimbursed for was a $26 ham!
- If you refer friends to join Field Agent, refer people who do not live in your direct area. Jobs can only be claimed by one person. If you refer all of your neighbors to join Field Agent you will always be competing for jobs and in the end, you won’t make as much. So try sending out referrals to people who live on the other side of the city from you, or better yet, the other side of the country!
- This Side-Hustle will work really well for those who have flexible schedules and drive around a lot already. I work in real estate, so I am driving around all day to different towns to show houses. I typically have a bit of time in between showings to complete a Field Agent job. On average, I complete one job per day.
- Don’t expect to get rich off of this app. Sure, there are people out there who have made thousands of dollars in a year. However, those are rare cases. I believe this app is best used as solely a side-hustle to bring in some extra cash.
Here are my questions for you…
- Have you tried out the Field Agent App before?
- How much have you made using it?

I love that there are opportunities like this. I’m forwarding your review onto my kids who are always looking to supplement their incomes.
It is an awesome opportunity to supplement income. Let me know if you or if they have any questions about Field Agent!
Great review. I have never seen the Real Estate Audits come up in my feed yet but those sound super easy.
In my area there are a lot of Screener surveys. These don’t make you any money but will screen you in for different tasks. They usually take a minute or 2 to complete. If you get screened in to certain tasks then those new tasks show up in the next day or so.
Often those new tasks are Do Anywhere Surveys. These are my favourite. You get paid to answer a few questions from anywhere, no need to leave the house.
I have gotten a few of those screener surveys in the past, but haven’t seen them in a while! Keep up the awesome work with Field Agent!!

Pretty sure with all the links and advertisements for them this person is getting paid by field agent to do a positive review or just hasn’t used the app long like all those other reviewers who picked it up and used it for 2 days to do the review and doesn’t realize field agent then starts not paying you for half your jobs? Go to a real review site that isnt padded reviews and you will see field agent has 2.5 out of 5 stars. This lady worked for them for 9 years and got deactivated when she complained about not getting paid for a task she and her husband both did and he got paid for and theirs was the same.
AND this site doesn’t let you use a vpn. Go figure. You know why I use a VPN? For hackers like you.
I did tasks for Field agent for 2 years in Canada. (They are based in AK)
They don’t give you very much information on a task before you accept it. You can cancel the task and not do it however you have already gone to the location and wasted your time and money for travel. The tasks are often impossible and you won’t find this out until you are at the location and at that spot in the open task. For example one of my tasks at Walmart for a measly 3 dollars was denied because I could not get the very top of an aisle in my photo yet the directions said I was to take the photo horizontally. The aisles in this case were too narrow to back up to capture the full top and bottom of the aisle especially head on and horizontal like the instructions stated. If I could turn my phone vertical there wouldn’t have been a problem. I recently got a warning but was still paid for this exact scenario at Healthy Planet. Again narrow aisles not enough space to back up to capture what they want in the photo. If you have ever taken photos of real estate (I’m in rentals) you will understand how sometimes you can’t get everything in 1 photo that you would like to. Especially when there is a rule about Horizontal or vertical. Or, for example, they wish to have only 1 four foot section of the shelving in a photo but you have to take the photo horizontally AND you cannot edit the photo and crop out the next shelf over. I think you get the idea. Sometimes the tasks are impossible. Sometimes they are designed with them at one store and another store’s layout is completely different. Then, when you complain about their instructions (and there is no way to contact them for verification of how to proceed) then they just disable your account. My last account was disabled and I just made another with a friend a couple weeks later using a VPN and FAKE GPS app. I tried to make a 3rd just now and it said I cant have another account on my device so maybe they have changed that since last year. Just tried on my chromebook and the app wasn’t downloadable on this device. Maybe next time I get a new phone but I only do their tasks for fun when I am bored and when I want to have my gas paid for to drive around the city. PAYING to do their tasks is a no go (aka they deny the task when I’ve spent the gas to get there and try to follow their instructions to the best of my ability but they are just impossible and do not work for the location I am at) You make less than minimum wage most of the time and tasks are mostly available on Friday and Saturdays. HEY FIELD AGENT: David Hynes and Kyle Dudley (my friend) if you want to see all the tasks *I* have done for you. Jeff Doucette is not easy to talk to. He is stubborn and does not ever admit the task may be flawed. The rules in the instructions are the rules (so he can deny your payment)
The last example and why Jeff recently deactivated me (at least all available tasks disappeared from my log in) was because of a 14 dollar task at Costco that took almost an hour (min wage is 14-something in my Province and I drove 8km to do one that was $14, $6 and $3.50 at the same store and was there well over an hour for all 3 tasks. I got paid for the 6 dollar one. I still don’t know why the $3.50 one was declined. I did it the exact same way as the 6 dollar one. The 6 was for bagged and canned coffee “audit” (taking a photo of each of the brands with price tag above it. The 3.50 was for K-cups on the opposite side of the store (8 km is about 4 miles for you Yanks 🙂 (My family has a house in Florida so I’m decently familiar with your way of life) I bet your gas isn’t $1.42 A LITRE where you are (liter in US english) 3.8 Litres = 1 Gallon.
The 14 dollar Costco task that was denied yesterday was to take photos of Adult diapers, incontinence items in and outside of the main section for these products. The problem is the task said to take a photo per 1 item including the pallet and the price tag. Low and behold there were 3 different items on each pallet and 3 price tags for those 3 items above one pallet. What would you do? I took 3 of the same photo so I had 3 photos for 3 items (like just delete the extra photos instead of stealing from me). I had considered only taking one photo of the pallet and 3 items with their 3 price tags above them. Add to this, I didn’t even know if these items were out of them main section or in the main section AS THERE IS NO MAIN SECTION for the incontinence adult diapers in this store. There is 1 wall by Pharmacy. To me that looks like inside the section but the instructions said inside a section there will be the orange metal bars (aka the shelving) There was a wire above the products with the price tags. there was no shelving. Jeff said these items were out of section. Jeff said I submitted several pictures of the same items. Yes, because the instructions said to take 1 photo per item including the price tag and that was impossible as 3 price tags were jumbled together above 1 pallet containing 3 products. I can’t rearrange the store to make Field Agent’s instructions work. Field agent claims they don’t get paid if we don’t get paid so they hate to deny tasks but only ONCE have I seen a task that I have been denied for pop back up in the tasks. Perhaps the adult diaper costco one didn’t pop back up because he knows it can’t be done according to instructions or perhaps they got paid for it. Either way I should have been compensated my 14 dollars. It is a small amount. It is the principal of having spent my time and energy on a task THEY were at fault for not having been able to complete according to flawed instructions.
Anyhow. Beware with this company. It is already very little money. I noticed many of the tasks lately have gone to $3.50 when they used to be $5 and stuff like that. Or they are adding a lot more pictures and things you have to do and keeping it at $3.50 whereas before (a year ago) the 3 dollar tasks would be something like 2 pictures and a photo of the front of the store.
P.S. I have warned Jeff Doucette of Field Agent I will be posting a Review here when he refused to go over the Costco task again and properly compensate me for something they denied when their instructions were impossible to do at this location. Maybe it worked at other locations, but it didn’t at this one. If he decides to change his mind I will remove this post. I tried to file a complaint WITH the BBB but since it is an employee and employer relationship I was unable to and can only leave a review here. I may lobby my local government for more regulations in the gig economy because people who work should get paid. Also the gig economy is seriously taking advantage of people skirting labour laws, health benefits, etc etc. I believe our government is already looking into it but I will get in touch with them to see what legislation they propose to stop the Jeff Doucette’s of the world from taking advantage of people. I will speak to someone at the labour board in Ontario Canada here and see if there is any kind of complaint process I can initiate. Thank you for reading. This was the most honest review I could give. I have done over $1000 with this company and if you know what you are getting into it can be ok. Especially if you do tasks when you already have errands to run and aren’t making a separate trip only to be denied the task (the only reason I did that is because there were 3 at one location. Normally I would ignore tasks if I didn’t already want to go out for something). I have found it is a little worse this year (tasks longer and more of them denied) but I have maybe done more tasks this year so that’s why I am feeling it? and they don’t all work according the instructions. It would just be nice if they understood that and did a better job of treating their agents fairly.
Sincerely,
David N. Hynes, London Ontario Canada
Hey David! Thanks for taking the time to go through my review of the Field Agent App.
Believe it or not this actually wasn’t a paid review of the app (legally I would have to disclose that if it was) I sincerely love using Field Agent! I think it’s a fun way to make some extra cash. While I don’t use it as often as I used to when I originally wrote this review, I do still use it about once a month. I’ve added a new photo to the article to show my most recent cash balance from Field Agent to show you that I am still an active user =]
I’m so sorry that you have not had a good experience using the app – I definitely get frustrated when I do a job and don’t get paid for it as well. Thanks for sharing your experience so others can make a well informed decision as they decide whether or not they want to give Field Agent a try.
