SEPTEMBER 2020 WE BECAME DEBT FREE (ON MY BIRTHDAY!)
I graduated college in 2016 and didn’t get serious about becoming debt free until 2018. I had been paying my monthly payments, but had BIG goals for my future. I wanted to buy a house, invest in real estate, max out my retirement accounts, give more to my church and favorite ministries, and ultimately honor God with the way I managed my money.Â
I was able to accomplish ALL of these things while becoming debt free at the same time!Â
In 2017, right after my husband and I got engaged, we began to envision our future together. We had so many big dreams, and had set huge goals for ourselves! But we slowly got discouraged when we looked at the debt we had compared to the small income we made as a property manager and youth pastor.Â
But we didn’t let these limitations stop us from making strides towards our God-sized goals! We sat down and made a plan to pay off the $30,000 we had in student loans in just a few short years.Â
Today, we are proud to say that we are finally debt free! We did it in just 4 years. But that’s not all!
While paying off our debt, we still purchased 2 rental properties, investing in our retirement accounts, went on a lot of fun mini-vacations, and have been able to give more than ever before!Â
Now, we are working on becoming financially independent, taking more family vacations, and buying our dream home!
